Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
To conjugate -re verbs, remove the -re and add: -s, -s, nothing, -ons, -ez, -ent.
- Remove the -re ending from the infinitive: attendre -> attend-.
- Add the endings: -s, -s, (nothing), -ons, -ez, -ent.
- The third-person singular (il/elle/on) stays as the stem without an added letter.
Overview
attendre (इंतजार करना)। सबसे पहले हम इसका आखिरी '-re' हटा देते हैं। जो बचा, वो है attend-। इसे हम 'Stem' कहते हैं। अब इस attend- के आगे हमें बस कुछ छोटे-छोटे अक्षर जोड़ने हैं। हिंदी में हम क्रिया के अंत में 'ता है', 'ते हैं', 'रहा है' लगाते हैं, जो कभी-कभी बहुत जटिल हो जाता है। फ्रेंच में यह -re verbs के लिए बहुत ही फिक्स्ड (fixed) है।Je (मैं) के साथ कुछ कहना चाहते हैं, तो आप Stem में -s जोड़ देते हैं। जब Nous (हम) के साथ कहना है, तो -ons जोड़ देते हैं। यह अंग्रेजी के 'wait' vs 'waits' वाले नियम से मिलता-जुलता है, लेकिन उससे कहीं ज्यादा व्यवस्थित है। एक और मजे की बात: फ्रेंच में J'attends का मतलब 'मैं इंतज़ार करता हूँ' भी होता है और 'मैं इंतज़ार कर रहा हूँ' भी। हिंदी में हम इन दोनों के लिए अलग वाक्य बनाते हैं, लेकिन फ्रेंच में बस एक ही क्रिया काफी है!- 1क्रिया के अंत से
