Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use this to talk about hypothetical situations you didn't witness yourself, but heard about from others.
- Use the -l participle for the 'if' clause to show hearsay: 'Ако бил...'
- Use 'щял да' + verb for the result clause: 'щял да дойде'.
- Omit the auxiliary 'съм' in the 3rd person to mark it as renarrative.

Smart Tips
Switch all your verbs to the -l participle and delete the 3rd person 'is/are'.
Add an extra 'бил' after 'щял'. It's the linguistic equivalent of rolling your eyes.
Use 'нямало да' regardless of the person, just ensure 'нямало' matches gender if needed (though it's usually neuter singular in this fixed construction).

Stress on Participles

Yes, very much so! Especially when gossiping or retelling a movie or a story someone told you.
The second one (`щял бил да`) is 'double renarrative' or dubitative. It adds a layer of 'I really don't believe this claim'.
Always use `нямало да` for the negative result clause in the renarrative mood.
Yes! You must use `щял` (M), `щяла` (F), `щяло` (N), or `щели` (Plural) to match the subject.
