Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
When you express emotion about an action, use the subjunctive (subjunctive stem + suffix) to show subjective feeling.
- Use subjunctive after verbs like 'ուրախ եմ' (I am glad) or 'վախենում եմ' (I am afraid).
- The dependent clause must be introduced by 'որ' (that).
- The verb in the dependent clause must be in the subjunctive mood.

Meanings
This rule requires the use of the subjunctive mood in a subordinate clause when the main clause expresses an emotion, fear, or desire.
Expression of Joy/Surprise
Used when the speaker is happy or surprised about a future or hypothetical event.
“Ուրախ եմ, որ նա հաղթի։”
“Զարմացած եմ, որ նա գա։”
Expression of Fear/Anxiety
Used when the speaker fears that something might happen.
“Վախենում եմ, որ նա ուշանա։”
