accept دائماً يأتي كجزء من «الفعل» في الجملة، وهو يتصرف حسب الزمن (Tense). في العربية، نحن نصرف الفعل «قَبِلَ» (قَبِلتُ، قَبِلوا)، وفي الإنجليزية يتصرف accept بإضافة ed للماضي أو s للمفرد الغائب. لا يوجد في الإنجليزية ما يمنع استخدام accept كفعل رئيسي، وهذا يجعله مشابهاً تماماً لاستخدام الفعل في العربية.exceptEveryone is here except Ali(الكل هنا ما عدا علي).

except فنستخدمها عندما نريد تحديد استثناء من قاعدة عامة:- 1استثناء شخص أو شيء من مجموعة:
Everyone passed the exam except Sarah. - 2استثناء وقت أو ظرف:
We work every day except for the weekend.
except غالباً ما تتبعها عبارة for في المحادثات اليومية (except for) لتجعل الجملة أكثر سلاسة، خاصة إذا كانت في بداية الجملة: Except for the rain, the trip was perfect.- 1الخلط الصوتي: يميل الكثيرون لنطق الكلمتين بنفس الطريقة. في العربية، نحن لا نملك أصواتاً تفرق بين
