Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use conjunctions like 'և' (and), 'բայց' (but), or 'կամ' (or) to link two simple ideas into one fluid sentence.
- Use 'և' to add information: 'Ես սիրում եմ սուրճ և թեյ' (I like coffee and tea).
- Use 'բայց' to show contrast: 'Ես ուզում եմ գնալ, բայց ժամանակ չունեմ' (I want to go, but I have no time).
- Use 'կամ' to offer choices: 'Դու կգաս, կամ ես կգամ' (You will come, or I will come).

Meanings
This grammar allows learners to combine two independent clauses into a single compound sentence using coordinating conjunctions.
Addition
Linking two related ideas.
“Նա կարդում է գիրք, և ես նայում եմ հեռուստացույց։”
“Մայրիկը պատրաստեց ճաշ, և մենք կերանք։”
Contrast
Showing opposition between two ideas.
“Ես սիրում եմ ձմեռը, բայց չեմ սիրում ցուրտը։”
“Նա խելացի է, բայց շատ համեստ։”
Choice
Presenting alternatives.
“Դու կուզես սուրճ, կամ կուզես թեյ։”
“Մենք կգնանք կինո, կամ կմնանք տանը։”

سهل الخلط
Both can mean 'but', but 'իսկ' is used for contrastive comparison, while 'բայց' is for direct opposition.
They both mean 'and', but 'և' is formal/written, 'ու' is informal/spoken.
Both are used for choices, but 'թե' is used in questions.
