Partícula 만: Solo, Solamente (Only/Just)

Usa «만» para decir solo o solamente pegándolo al sustantivo y eliminando las partículas básicas como «이/가» o «을/를».

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

The particle '만' means 'only' or 'just' and attaches directly to nouns to exclude everything else.

  • Attach '만' directly to nouns: '사과만' (only apples).
  • It replaces particles like '이/가' or '을/를' in most cases.
  • It can be added after other particles like '에서' or '에게' for specific nuance.
Noun + 만 = Only Noun

Overview

¿Alguna vez te has dicho
veré solo un episodio
de un K-drama en Netflix? Cinco horas después, sale el sol y sigues pegado a la pantalla. Esa palabra esencial solo o justo es exactamente lo que hace en coreano.
Dibuja un círculo alrededor de algo y excluye todo lo demás. Es el portero de tus oraciones. Ya sea que estés pidiendo solo un americano helado o diciendo que amas solo a tu gato, esta partícula es tu mejor amiga.
Convierte una declaración general en una específica y exclusiva.

How This Grammar Works

Tone & Nuance

es neutral. No lleva emociones pesadas por sí mismo. Funciona en una entrevista de trabajo (incluidas las llamadas de Zoom) o en un mensaje de texto a tu mejor amigo.
Sin embargo, puede sonar cortante si se usa para rechazar cosas. Solo como pizza implica que rechazas todo lo demás. Crea un límite claro.
Muestra especificidad sin necesariamente quejarse. Es la forma estándar y predeterminada de limitar la cantidad o el alcance.

Contrast With Similar Patterns

El mayor rival es 밖에.
  • funciona con verbos positivos: Tengo solo 1000 won. (Hecho neutral).
  • 밖에 exige un verbo negativo:
No tengo nada más que 1000 won.
    (Enfatizando la falta).
  • es similar a pero se siente más formal o literario, como en las letras emocionales de K-Pop (Eres mi único...). Usa para el 90% de la vida diaria.

Common Mistakes

  • No digas 을만 o 가만. Suena torpe. Simplemente reemplaza las partículas de sujeto/objeto.
  • No uses si realmente quieres enfatizar cuán *poco* tienes; usa 밖에 + verbo negativo para ese toque dramático.
  • No pongas un espacio antes. Es una partícula, así que abraza al sustantivo con fuerza: 너 만 (X) -> 너만 (O).

Common Collocations

  • 잠시만요 (Solo un momento - frase cortés estándar para pasar a la gente)

  • 한 번만 (Solo una vez - útil para rogar a amigos)
