talk در انگلیسی ناگذر (Intransitive) است و دقیقاً مانند فعل «صحبت کردن» در فارسی عمل میکند. یعنی برای اتصال به موضوع، به یک پل نیاز دارد که همان about است.discuss را به درستی درک کنیم، باید آن را در ذهن خود به صورت «بررسی کردنِ چیزی» یا «مورد بحث قرار دادنِ چیزی» ترجمه کنیم، نه صرفاً «بحث کردن». وقتی میگویید «ما پروژه را بررسی کردیم»، دیگر از کلمهی «دربارهی» استفاده نمیکنید.discuss دقیقاً همین حالت را دارد.talk about | صحیح - حرف اضافه لازم است |discuss | صحیح - حرف اضافه ممنوع است |discuss about | غلط - تداخل زبانی (L1 Interference) |discuss بسیار ساده است، به شرطی که عادتِ اضافه کردن about را ترک کنید. در ادامه، الگوهای مختلفی را که این فعل در جملات به خود میگیرد بررسی میکنیم:Subject + discuss + noun/pronoun- مثال:

about نیست.Subject + discuss + how/what/why...- مثال:
We need to discuss how we can improve our sales.(ما باید بحث کنیم که چگونه میتوانیم فروشمان را افزایش دهیم.) - مثال:
They discussed what happened during the meeting.(آنها دربارهی آنچه در طول جلسه رخ داد بحث کردند.)

talk about رایجتر و طبیعیتر است. discuss ممکن است کمی بیش از حد جدی یا خشک به نظر برسد.- مثال:

discussاستفاده کنید، انگار در حال کالبدشکافی علمی خاطرات هستید که کمی عجیب به نظر میرسد!
Talk about: میتواند صرفاً به معنای ذکر کردن یک مطلب باشد بدون اینکه لزوماً بررسی عمیقی صورت بگیرد.Discuss: همیشه به معنای بررسی جنبههای مختلف یک موضوع است. اگر در بازار در حال چانهزنی (Haggling) هستید، میتوانید بگویید:Let's discuss the price؛ این یعنی بیایید روی قیمت با هم مذاکره و تبادل نظر کنیم.
- اگر بگویید:
Let's talk about our study planیعنی بیایید کمی دربارهاش گپ بزنیم. - اگر بگویید:
We need to discuss our study planیعنی بیایید بنشینیم و جزئیات، ساعتها و منابع را به طور جدی بررسی کنیم.
about برایمان غیرطبیعی جلوه میکند.discuss را معادل «بررسی کردن» قرار دهید. همانطور که نمیگوییم «ما دربارهی این موضوع را بررسی کردیم»، در انگلیسی هم بعد از discuss حرف اضافه نمیآوریم.discussion اسم (Noun) است و برعکسِ فعلِ خود، میتواند و معمولاً باید با حرف اضافهی about یا on بیاید.- اشتباه:

about بعد از کلمهای که شبیه discuss است استفاده کرد؟discussion استفاده میکنید. مثلاً: The discussion about the new law lasted for hours. در اینجا چون discussion اسم است، آوردن about کاملاً صحیح و الزامی است.discuss about آیا منظور من را نمیفهمند؟Grammatical Range and Accuracy میشود و در محیطهای حرفهای، تسلط شما بر زبان را زیر سوال میبرد.discuss ما را به اشتباه بیندازند؟enter (وارد شدن)، marry (ازدواج کردن با) و reach (رسیدن به). در فارسی ما برای اینها حرف اضافه داریم (واردِ... شدن، با... ازدواج کردن)، اما در انگلیسی مستقیماً مفعول میگیرند:Enter the room(نهenter into)Marry him(نهmarry with him)Reach the station(نهreach to the station)
