ترفند حافظه
تصور کن که تو یه پیکسل کوچولو روی نقشه هستی.
- وقتی یه دایره بزرگی که یه شهر رو پوشش میده، تو IN (داخل) هستی.
- وقتی یه خطی که روی یه جاده قرار گرفته، تو ON (روی) هستی.
- وقتی یه نقطه کوچولو روی یه آدرس مشخصی، تو AT (در یک نقطه) هستی.
جوک: چرا حرف اضافه از اسم جدا شد؟ چون حس میکرد اسم همیشه in فضای شخصیشه، ولی هیچوقت at جای درست در زمان درست نیست. (باشه، این یه جوک بیمزه بود. بگذریم!)

at + نقطه/آدرس مشخص: at the door (دم در)، at 123 Main Street (در خیابان اصلی، پلاک ۱۲۳).
on + سطح/طبقه/خط: on the floor (روی زمین)، on the third floor (در طبقه سوم)، on the border (روی مرز).
in + فضای بسته/منطقه: in the kitchen (توی آشپزخونه)، in the park (توی پارک)، in Spain (در اسپانیا).

گاهی تفاوت بین in و at به این مربوطه که *چه کاری* اونجا انجام میدی، نه فقط کجایی.
At school در مقابل In the school: تو at school هستی اگه دانشآموز اونجا باشی. تو in the school هستی اگه فقط از نظر فیزیکی داخل ساختمون باشی (شاید یه لولهکش باشی که داری یه نشتی رو تعمیر میکنی).At the hospital در مقابل In the hospital: در انگلیسی بریتانیایی، in hospital بودن یعنی بیمار هستی. at the hospital بودن یعنی داری به ملاقات کسی میری.On time در مقابل In time: خب، این برای زمانه، ولی از همون منطق پیروی میکنه. On time یعنی دقیقاً سر اون نقطه زمانی مشخص. In time یعنی قبل از موعد مقرر به اندازه کافی زمان داری.سؤالات رایج
باید بگم at the beach یا on the beach؟
هر دوتاش درسته! At the beach یعنی تو اون محدوده کلی هستی (شاید تو کافهی نزدیکش). On the beach یعنی پاهات واقعاً روی شنه.
in the car درسته یا at the car؟
اگه داخل ماشین هستی از in the car استفاده کن. اگه کنارش وایسادی و منتظر دوستی، از at the car استفاده کن.
من in یه خیابون زندگی میکنم یا on یه خیابون؟
در انگلیسی آمریکایی، شما on یک خیابان زندگی میکنی. در انگلیسی بریتانیایی، میتونی in یک خیابان زندگی کنی. هر دوتاش اوکیه، ولی on برای استفاده جهانی مطمئنتره!

Meanings
These three prepositions describe the physical relationship between an object and a location, ranging from specific points to broad areas.
Enclosed Space
Used when something is inside a container, a room, a building, or a defined territory like a city or country.
“The keys are in my pocket.”
“She is waiting in the kitchen.”
Surface
Used when something is touching the top or side of a flat area or a line.
“The book is on the desk.”
“There is a picture on the wall.”
Specific Point
Used for a precise location, a meeting point, or a functional place.
“Meet me at the entrance.”

in a car یا in a taxi (کوچیک و بستهان)، اما on a bus، on a train، on a plane یا on a ship (بزرگترن و میتونی توشون راه بری). نذار گیجت کنن! مثلاً: I am on the bus.

Smart Tips
If there is a house number, use 'at'. If there is no number, use 'on'.
Use 'on' for anything with a screen (on the phone, on the computer, on the internet).
Use 'at' if you are there for its main purpose (at the library to study).
Remember: if you can't stand up, it's 'in'.
