شرطی صفر: حقایق و دستورالعملها
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
The Zero Conditional expresses facts, scientific laws, and habits that are always true when a specific condition is met.
- Use Present Simple in both clauses: 'If you heat ice, it melts.'
- Use 'when' instead of 'if' for things that happen regularly: 'When it rains, the grass gets wet.'
- Use a comma only if the 'if' clause comes first: 'If it rains, I stay home.'
If it rains, the ground gets wet. When I drink hot tea, my tongue burns. توجه کنید که در اینجا هیچ خبری از will نیست. بسیاری از فارسیزبانان به دلیل عادت به ساختارهای آیندهنگر، تمایل دارند از will استفاده کنند که در این ساختار کاملاً اشتباه است.if یا when به همراه زمان present simple در هر دو بخش جمله.If you heat ice, it melts. |Ice melts if you heat it. |- اگر جمله با
Ifشروع شود، حتماً بعد از بخش شرطی باید ویرگول (,) بگذارید. - اگر جمله با بخش نتیجه شروع شود، نیازی به ویرگول نیست.
- در جملات دستوری، میتوان از
imperative(فعل امری) استفاده کرد:If you are tired, go to sleep.
- 1حقایق علمی و قوانین طبیعت: هرگاه بخواهید موضوعی را بگویید که در تمام دنیا صادق است. مثال:
If you freeze water, it turns into ice. - 2عادتهای شخصی و روتینهای روزمره: برای توصیف کارهایی که همیشه در شرایط خاص انجام میدهید. مثال:
When I am stressed, I drink tea.(در اینجا به فرهنگ چایخوری اشاره داریم که در لحظات استرسزا برای ما ایرانیها بسیار رایج است). - 3دستورالعملها و راهنماها: در محیطهای کاری یا هنگام کار با ابزارها. مثال:
If the alarm rings, leave the building immediately. - 4تعریف مفاهیم: وقتی میخواهید ویژگی ذاتی چیزی را بیان کنید. مثال:
If a person is a vegetarian, they don't eat meat.
If it rains, I will stay home، یعنی برای بارانِ احتمالی در آینده تصمیم گرفتهاید (First Conditional)، اماIf it rains, the ground gets wetیک حقیقت همیشگی است. - 3حذف فاعل: چون فارسی یک زبان
pro-dropاست (ما فاعل را حذف میکنیم، مثلاً «میروم» به جای «من میروم»)، زبانآموزان گاهی فاعل را در انگلیسی حذف میکنند که باعث میشود جمله از نظر دستوری ناقص باشد.
If you touch fire, you get burned. | If you touch that fire, you will get burned. |- 1آیا میتوانم همیشه به جای
ifازwhenاستفاده کنم؟ بله، درZero Conditionalاین دو تقریباً هممعنی هستند، اماwhenبر تکرار و زمان وقوع تأکید بیشتری دارد. - 2آیا ترتیب جملات مهم است؟ خیر، معنا تغییر نمیکند، فقط جای ویرگول تغییر میکند.
- 3آیا میتوانم از افعال مُدال مثل
canیاmustاستفاده کنم؟ بله، در بخش نتیجه برای بیان توانایی یا ضرورت میتوان از آنها استفاده کرد، مثلاً:If you finish your work, you can go home.

Smart Tips
Check that both verbs are in the Present Simple. Do not use 'will'.
Try swapping them. If the meaning stays the same, you are looking at a Zero Conditional.
Use the imperative in the second clause for a clearer, more professional tone.
Look for the 'If'. If it's at the start, put a comma in the middle. If it's in the middle, remove all commas.
تلفظ
The 'If' Clause Lift
In the first part of the sentence (the condition), your voice usually goes up in pitch at the end of the clause to show the sentence isn't finished.
The Result Clause Fall
The second part of the sentence (the result) ends with a falling intonation to signal the end of the statement.
Rising-Falling
If it rains [rising], the grass gets wet [falling].

No. If you use `will`, it becomes a First Conditional, which is for specific future events, not general truths.
They are mostly interchangeable. `When` suggests the condition happens more frequently or certainly than `if`.
Only if the `if` clause comes first. If the result clause is first, no comma is used.
Yes, but you must use the Past Simple in both clauses. 'If it rained, we played inside.' This is called the Past Real Conditional.
It is neutral. It is used in both very formal scientific papers and very informal daily speech.
Yes! This is very common for instructions. 'If you are tired, go to bed.'
Because there is 'zero' doubt about the result. It is a 100% certainty.
Yes. `Unless` means `if not`. 'Plants die unless they get water.'
