Use the conditional mood to report unverified information, rumors, or allegations without taking responsibility for their accuracy.
- Use it to report news that hasn't been officially confirmed: 'Le suspect serait en fuite.'
- Use it to distance yourself from the source of the information: 'Le gouvernement aurait décidé de réduire les taxes.'
- Use it for allegations or claims: 'La star aurait été vue à Paris hier soir.'
Overview
Le ministre a démissionné.（大臣が辞任した）と言うと、これは事実の断定です。しかし、Le ministre aurait démissionné.（大臣が辞任したそうだ/辞任したとされる）とすると、話し手は「自分はその情報を聞いたに過ぎず、真偽については責任を負わない」という心理的距離を置くことができます。これは、ビジネスメールやニュース、あるいはSNSでの発信において、自分の発言の客観性を保つために非常に重要です。日本語の「～らしい」という推測のニュアンスと近いですが、フランス語のこの形式はより公的で、客観的な証拠の欠如を強調する文脈で使われます。私たちが普段、日本語で「～とのことです」と丁寧かつ慎重に述べる場面を、フランス語ではこの条件法一語でスマートに表現できるのです。parler | parlerait | aurait parlé |finir | finirait | aurait fini |être | serait | aurait été |venir | viendrait | serait venu(e) |- 1ニュースや報道：未確定の事件や事故を報じる際に必須です。

Il aurait gagné au loto.（彼、宝くじに当たったらしいよ）と表現できます。 - 3科学的仮説：研究段階で「～という可能性がある」と述べる際、
Cette théorie expliquerait le phénomène.（この理論はその現象を説明しうる）のように、断定を避けるために使います。 - 4皮肉や反論：
Moi, j'aurais fait ça ?（私がそんなことをしたというのですか？＝ありえない）のように、相手の言った内容を引用しつつ、激しく否定する際にも使われます。
- 1「未来形」との混同：日本語では「明日、雨が降るらしい」と未来のことも伝聞で言いますが、フランス語で
Il pleuvra.（降るだろう）と言うと確信に近い未来になります。未確認の予測ならIl pleuvrait.と条件法を使うべきです。 - 2「丁寧な依頼」の
je voudraisとの混同：je voudraisは丁寧な表現ですが、他の動詞で条件法を使いすぎると「自信がない人」という印象を与えます。Je serais disponible.と言うと「空いていると聞いている（自分でもよくわからないが）」という奇妙な響きになるため、自分の予定には直説法を使うのが自然です。 - 3
si節との混同：条件法は「もし～なら」という仮定法と形が同じですが、ジャーナリスティック条件法はsi節を伴いません。Si...と始めてしまうと、それは「仮定法」になってしまいます。独立した文で使うのがこの文法のポイントです。
