如何使用
In academic or formal writing, use 'personalidad' rather than colloquialisms like 'forma de ser'. Ensure precise adjective use.
In everyday speech, 'tener mucha personalidad' often means someone is unique, bold, or dresses in a very original way.
While 'personalidad' is universally understood, the adjectives used to describe it vary wildly by region (e.g., 'chido' in Mexico, 'guay' in Spain for a cool personality).
- Using 'un' instead of 'una' before 'personalidad'.
- Confusing 'personalidad' with 'personaje'.
- Using masculine adjectives like 'atractivo' to describe 'personalidad'.
- Translating 'TV personality' literally instead of using 'figura pública'.
- Using 'hacer' instead of 'forjar' to talk about developing personality.
小贴士
Gender Agreement
Always remember that 'personalidad' is feminine. Any adjective you use to describe it must end in '-a' (if it's an -o/-a adjective) or be gender-neutral. For example, 'una personalidad atractiva' or 'una personalidad fuerte'.
Use 'Forma de ser'
In casual conversations, native speakers frequently use the phrase 'forma de ser' instead of 'personalidad'. Saying 'Me gusta tu forma de ser' sounds very natural and friendly.
Personaje vs. Personalidad
Never use 'personaje' when you mean 'personality'. 'Personaje' means a fictional character. Your friend has a 'personalidad', Batman is a 'personaje'.
Strong Personality
To say someone has a strong personality, use 'una personalidad fuerte'. This is a very common collocation and is generally seen as a positive trait indicating confidence and resilience.
Verbs of Development
When talking about how personality changes over time, use verbs like 'forjar' (to forge), 'desarrollar' (to develop), or 'madurar' (to mature). Avoid using 'hacer' (to make).
The Final 'D'
In many Spanish dialects, the final 'd' in words ending in '-dad' is pronounced very softly, almost like a 'th' in English 'this', or it is dropped entirely in fast, informal speech (personalidá).
Ser un personaje
If someone calls a real person 'un personaje' (e.g., 'Tu hermano es un personaje'), it's a colloquial way of saying they are very eccentric, funny, or peculiar, not a comment on their literal personality.
Personalidad Jurídica
If you are studying business or law in Spanish, memorize 'personalidad jurídica'. It means 'legal entity' and is crucial for understanding corporate structures.
Rich Adjectives
Expand your vocabulary by learning specific adjectives to pair with 'personalidad', such as 'arrolladora' (overwhelming/charismatic), 'magnética' (magnetic), or 'conflictiva' (confrontational).
Descriptive Writing
When writing essays or stories, use 'personalidad' to delve into the psychological depth of your subjects. Contrast their 'personalidad pública' (public persona) with their private self for better narratives.

常见问题
10 个问题'Personalidad' refers to the traits and characteristics of a real person, translating to 'personality'. 'Personaje', on the other hand, translates to 'character' in the context of a book, movie, play, or video game. For example, Harry Potter is a 'personaje', but your friend's outgoing nature is their 'personalidad'. Confusing the two is a very common mistake for English speakers.
'Personalidad' is a feminine noun. In Spanish, almost all nouns ending in the suffix '-dad' are feminine. Therefore, you must use feminine articles ('la', 'una') and feminine adjectives ('fuerte', 'extrovertida', 'magnética') when modifying it. Saying 'un personalidad' is grammatically incorrect.
The most direct and natural translation is 'Él tiene una buena personalidad'. You can also use the colloquial phrase 'Tiene una buena forma de ser'. If you want to say he is a nice person, you can simply say 'Él es muy simpático' or 'Es muy buena persona'.
Yes, metaphorically. Just like in English, you can say a house, a city, or a brand has 'personalidad'. For example, 'Esta casa antigua tiene mucha personalidad' (This old house has a lot of personality). It means the object has a distinct, unique, or charming character.
'Personalidad jurídica' is a specific legal and business term that translates to 'legal personality' or 'corporate personhood'. It refers to the capacity of an organization, corporation, or entity to have legal rights and obligations, just like a natural person. It has nothing to do with psychological traits.
The most common verb is 'tener' (to have), as in 'tener una personalidad fuerte'. Other common verbs include 'forjar' (to forge/shape), 'desarrollar' (to develop), 'cambiar' (to change), 'reflejar' (to reflect), and 'ocultar' (to hide).
The correct translation is 'test de personalidad' or 'prueba de personalidad'. These terms are widely used in psychology, human resources, and casual contexts, such as online quizzes.
While often used interchangeably in casual speech, 'personalidad' is the broader term encompassing all behavioral and emotional traits. 'Carácter' specifically refers to the aspects of personality shaped by experience, education, and moral values. Having 'mucho carácter' often implies having a strong will or a quick temper.
No, 'hacer una personalidad' (to make a personality) sounds unnatural in Spanish. To express the idea of building or shaping a personality, you should use the verbs 'forjar' (to forge) or 'desarrollar' (to develop). For example, 'Las dificultades forjan la personalidad'.
'Falta de personalidad' translates to 'lack of personality'. It is used to describe someone who is easily influenced by others, lacks originality, or doesn't stand up for their own opinions. It's similar to calling someone a pushover or a follower.
