Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Make any verb negative by adding -지 않다 after the verb stem.
- Take the verb stem: 가다 (to go) -> 가.
- Add -지: 가지.
- Add 않다: 가지 않다 (do not go).

Formation Pattern
가다 (ir).
-다. Ahora tienes 가.
-지 a la raíz. No importa si la raíz termina en vocal o consonante. Obtienes 가지.
않다. Ahora tienes la forma negativa base: 가지 않다.
않다 para tu situación. Para el presente cortés, se convierte en 않아요. Entonces, 가지 않아요 significa No voy.
-지 permanece exactamente igual. Incluso los verbos irregulares como 듣다 (escuchar) permanecen como 듣지 antes de agregar 않다. Es la relación más estable que tendrás en la gramática coreana.
Pattern Variations

Incluso en los mensajes de texto modernos, podrías usarlo para ser claro. Si un amigo te pregunta si vas a venir a la fiesta y quieres sonar firme pero educado, dirías Hoy no voy (오늘은 가지 않아요). Suena un poco más final y razonado que simplemente decir 안 가요. ¡Todo es cuestión de la vibra!
Common Mistakes
있다 (tener/estar) o 알다 (saber). Si bien técnicamente puedes decir 있지 않다, los coreanos casi siempre usan las palabras opuestas dedicadas 없다 (no tener/no estar) y 모르다 (no saber). Decir 알지 않아요 es como decir No estoy en un estado de conocimiento. Técnicamente está bien, pero la gente te mirará raro. Otro error clásico es intentar negar tanto el verbo como el
