ماضی بعید استمراری (had been -ing)

برای اینکه نشون بدی یه کاری تا یه لحظه مشخصی توی گذشته چقدر طول کشیده، از زمان Past Perfect Continuous استفاده کن.

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use this to describe an ongoing action that was happening right up until another specific moment in the past.

  • Use 'had been' plus the '-ing' form of the verb for all subjects. Example: 'I had been waiting.'
  • It emphasizes the duration or process of an action before a past cutoff. Example: 'She had been working for hours.'
  • Do not use this with stative verbs like 'know' or 'want'. Example: 'I had known him' (not 'had been knowing').
Subject + 🕰️ had been + 🏃‍♂️ Verb-ing

(I, You, He, She, It, We, They).
3
The Constant Part: همیشه از had been استفاده کنید. این هرگز تغییر نمی‌کند. این بهترین دوست شماست.
4
The Action Part: فعل اصلی خود را بگیرید و -ing را به انتهای آن اضافه کنید (مثلاً working, running, scrolling).
5
فرمول اینجاست: Subject + had been + [Verb + ing]
6
مثبت:
I had been waiting.
7
منفی:
I had not been waiting
(یا hadn't).
8
سوالی:
Had you been waiting?
9
دیدید؟ مثل یک ست لگو است. شما فقط قطعات را به هم وصل می‌کنید. مهم نیست چه کسی آن را انجام می‌دهد، همیشه had been است. نه has، نه is، نه was. فقط had been.

آیا Had you been running (در حال دویدن بودی)؟"

کلماتی مثل know, like, want یا believe. شما نمی‌توانید بگویید
    I had been knowing him
    . فقط می‌گویید
    I had known him

  • Past Continuous: روی یک لحظه خاص تمرکز می‌کند.
در ساعت ۸ شب، من was working (داشتم کار می‌کردم).
    (شاید ساعت ۷:۵۹ شروع کردم، شاید ۵:۰۰. ما نمی‌دانیم).
  • Past Perfect Continuous: روی زمانی تمرکز می‌کند که به یک لحظه منتهی شده است.
تا ساعت ۸ شب، من سه ساعت had been working (در حال کار کردن بودم).
در مورد Past Perfect Simple («کار کرده بودم») چطور؟
  • Past Perfect Simple: روی *اتمام* یا نتیجه تمرکز می‌کند.
من تا ساعت ۸ شب کارم را had finished (تمام کرده بودم).
  • Past Perfect Continuous:

I'd been, you'd been, she'd been استفاده می‌کنیم. برای واتس‌اپ خیلی سریع‌تر است!
س: آیا می‌توانم آن را برای آینده استفاده کنم؟
ج: نه، این صرفاً برای گذشته است. برای آینده از will have been استفاده می‌کنیم.

The Simple form (`had worked`) focuses on completion or a result. The Continuous form (`had been working`) focuses on the duration or the process itself.

Yes! They are very common. Use `for` for a period of time (for two hours) and `since` for a starting point (since 5 PM).

It is grammatically possible in the passive voice, but it sounds very awkward. It's better to say `The house was being built` or `They had been building the house`.

Because `know` is a stative verb. Stative verbs describe a state that doesn't change, so they don't have a 'continuous' aspect in English.

Put `not` between `had` and `been`. The contraction is `hadn't been`.

Use `Past Continuous` for an action that was happening *at* a specific time. Use `Past Perfect Continuous` for an action that was happening *up until* a specific time.

It is moderately common, especially when telling stories or explaining why you were in a certain state (tired, late, etc.).

No! That's the best part. It is always `had been` for I, you, he, she, it, we, and they.
