Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
To ask questions in Russian, use 'Где' for location and 'Что' for objects, placing them at the start of your sentence.
- Use 'Где' (Gde) to ask about location: Где ресторан? (Where is the restaurant?)
- Use 'Что' (Chto) to ask about things: Что это? (What is this?)
- Question words usually go at the beginning of the sentence for neutral emphasis.

Formation Pattern
Где（グヂェ）、物なら Что（シト）。
Где + метро = Где метро?（地下鉄はどこ？／地下鉄はどこですか？）
Что + это = Что это?（これは何？／これは何ですか？）
это（エータ）という言葉はあなたの親友です。「これ」や「それ」を意味します。名前がわからない時は、指を差して Что это? と言えばOKです。
When To Use It
Где を使います。Googleマップを使うような場面です。人（Где Иван?）、場所（Где туалет?）、失くしたAirPodsなどに使えます。謎の食べ物や画面上の変なアイコンに遭遇した時は Что を使います。物（Что это?）やイベント（Что сегодня?）に使えます。TikTokのキャプションをチェックする時も、店員に変なスープについて尋ねる時も、これらの言葉は不可欠です。初心者が質問攻めにするのは当然のことなので、恐れずに使いましょう。
Common Mistakes
