Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Move the most important word to the start of the sentence to highlight it, breaking the standard SOV order.
- Place the emphasized object or adverb at the very beginning of the sentence.
- Keep the verb at the end unless it is the focus of the sentence.
- Use intonation (stress) on the fronted element when speaking to reinforce the emphasis.
Meanings
Fronting is a stylistic device where a word or phrase that usually appears later in the sentence is moved to the front to draw the listener's attention to it.
Contrastive Focus
Highlighting an element to contrast it with something else.
“Գիրքը ես կարդացի, ոչ թե հոդվածը։”

Emotive Emphasis
Expressing strong feelings about a specific part of the sentence.
