Perfective Aspect (ပြီးပြီ)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'ပြီးပြီ' (pi-bi) after a verb to indicate that an action is completed or finished.
- Attach 'ပြီးပြီ' directly to the verb stem: 'စား' (eat) -> 'စားပြီးပြီ' (have eaten).
- For negative, use 'မ...သေးပါ' (not yet): 'မစားရသေးပါ' (haven't eaten yet).
- For questions, add 'လား' at the end: 'စားပြီးပြီလား' (Have you eaten yet?).
Meanings
The perfective aspect marker 'ပြီးပြီ' indicates that an action has been completed at the time of speaking.
Completion
An action is finished.
