To make a Persian verb negative, simply add the prefix 'na-' (نَ) or 'ne-' (نِ) to the beginning of the verb.

  • Add 'na-' to most verbs: 'mi-ravam' (I go) becomes 'na-mi-ravam' (I don't go).
  • The prefix 'na-' always attaches directly to the start of the verb stem or prefix.
  • In the verb 'to be' (hastan), the negative form is irregular: 'nistam' (I am not).

Overview

Le persan suit une structure Sujet-Objet-Verbe (SOV). Cela signifie que le verbe se trouve toujours à la fin de la phrase. Quand vous rendez une phrase négative, le préfixe négatif s'attache directement à ce verbe tout à la fin.
Vous ne déplacez pas le « pas » au milieu de la phrase. Par exemple, dans « Je pain ne mange pas », le « ne » est fusionné avec « mange » : من نان نمی‌خورم (Man nān nemi-khoram).

L'ingrédient secret est le préfixe نـ (na-). Ce préfixe est comme un aimant ; il veut se coller à la partie la plus importante de la phrase verbale. Au présent, il se colle au marqueur progressif می (mi).
Au passé, il se colle directement au radical. Ce qui est cool, c'est que le persan n'utilise pas d'auxiliaires comme « faire » pour nier. Vous changez juste le verbe lui-même.

Pattern Variations

Common Mistakes

Le plus gros piège est d'oublier le می (mi) en niant le présent. Vous ne pouvez pas dire من نه روم. Gardez toujours le می : نمی‌روم. Une autre erreur est d'utiliser le mot نه (non) seul au lieu du préfixe attaché au verbe.
