不规则复数名词:规则的打破者(男人、脚、孩子)

记住这些特殊名词的复数形式,它们可不会只加 “-s”哦!要学会 «不规则» 变化。

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Most English nouns add '-s' to become plural, but 'Rule Breakers' change their spelling entirely without adding an 's'.

  • Vowel changes: 'man' becomes 'men' and 'foot' becomes 'feet'.
  • Special endings: 'child' becomes 'children' and 'ox' becomes 'oxen'.
  • No change: some words like 'sheep' and 'fish' stay exactly the same.

Overview

### Overview
### How This Grammar Works
例如,The child is playing(单数)和 The children are playing(复数)。在中文里,无论是一个孩子还是多个孩子,动词“玩”都是一样的。所以,当你学习这些不规则名词时,不仅要记住名词的变化,还要记住它们后面跟着的动词也要相应改变。这正是英语语法的精髓所在。
### Formation Pattern
不规则复数名词主要有四种变化模式。为了方便大家记忆,我整理了下面的表格:
| 变化类型 | 单数 (Singular) | 复数 (Plural) | 变化规律 | 示例句 (复数) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 元音改变 | man | men | ae | The men are here. |
| 元音改变 | woman | women | oi | The women are talking. |
| 元音改变 | foot | feet | ooee | My feet are cold. |
| 元音改变 | tooth | teeth | ooee | Brush your teeth. |
| 元音改变 | mouse | mice | oui | There are mice here. |
| 加后缀 | child | children | 加 -ren | The children are happy. |
| 无变化 | sheep | sheep | 不变 | I see ten sheep. |
| 完全替换 | person | people | 词汇替换 | Many people like tea. |
这些模式虽然看起来多,但其实非常高频。比如 peoplechildren,几乎每天都会用到。记住这个口诀:“元音变,后缀加,有的词,不用变,还有词,换个脸。”
### When To Use It
我们在什么时候使用这些不规则复数呢?简单来说,只要名词的数量大于1,就需要使用复数形式。这在我们的日常生活中无处不在。
  1. 1谈论人或群体:比如你在商场看到一群人,你会说 There are many people。如果你在讨论家庭,你会说 I have two children。注意,这里绝对不能说 two childs
  2. 2描述身体部位:当你去按摩或者看医生时,你会用到 feetteeth。比如 My teeth hurt(我的牙齿疼)。
  3. 3描述动物:在农场或者动物园,如果你看到一群羊,要说 Look at those sheep,而不是 sheeps
  4. 4职场与社交:在微信上和朋友聊天,提到同事时,我们会说 The men in our office 或者 The women in our team
使用这些正确的形式,能让你在交流中减少歧义。想象一下,如果你在淘宝客服沟通时,能准确区分单复数,对方会觉得你的英语基础非常扎实。这不仅是语法,更是沟通的礼仪。
### Common Mistakes
The child is playingThe children are playingisare 的区别非常关键。很多同学只改了名词,却忘了改动词。
  3. 3混淆 personpeople:中文里我们说“三个人”,英语里很多人会习惯性说 three persons。虽然在极正式的法律文件里可以见到 persons,但在日常生活中,people 才是 person 的标准复数形式。用 people 会让你听起来更自然。
### Contrast With Similar Patterns
为了让你更清晰地对比,看看常规复数和不规则复数的区别:
| 特征 | 常规名词 (Regular) | 不规则名词 (Irregular) |
|---|---|---|
| 变化方式 | 直接加 -s-es | 内部元音改变或词形替换 |
| 记忆难度 | 低,遵循统一规则 | 高,需要单独记忆 |
| 常见词 | cat -> cats | man -> men |
| 动词配合 | 同样遵循主谓一致 | 同样遵循主谓一致 |
### Quick FAQ

My feet are tired.
⚠️

千万别加 '-s'!

这是大家最常犯的错误!像 childsmansfoots 或者 peoples 都是不对的。这些词很早就打破了加 '-s' 的规则,所以别想着把 '-s' 再加回去了!比如,千万别说
I have two childs.
而是
I have two children.

制作抽认卡:一面写单数(比如 man),另一面写复数(men)。每天练习,直到你脱口而出!你甚至可以画些小图。比如,一面画一个男人,一面画两个男人,然后写 man / men
🌍

'People' 和 'Persons'

虽然 persons 在非常正式或法律文件中是正确的,但日常生活中几乎所有人都用 people。用 people 会让你听起来更自然、更友好!比如,你想问有多少人来派对,你会说
How many people are coming?
而不是

常见问题 (8)

English is a mix of languages. 'Man' is an old Germanic word that uses an ancient plural system. 'Pan' is newer and follows the modern 's' rule.

Yes, but only if you are talking about different species of fish (e.g., 'The fishes of the Pacific Ocean'). For eating or counting, use `fish`.

It is plural. You must use `are` or `were`. 'The people are happy.'

The standard plural is `people`. You can use `persons` in very formal or legal writing, but it sounds strange in conversation.

Both `mice` and `mouses` are accepted for technology, but `mice` is more common.

Focus on the sound. 'Woman' (singular) sounds like 'man' at the end. 'Women' (plural) sounds like 'WIM-min'.

The only other common one is `oxen`. Words like `brethren` exist but are very old-fashioned.

In Old English, some nouns didn't have a plural ending. Sheep is one of the few that stayed that way for over 1,000 years!
