Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Indirect questions make you sound polite by nesting a question inside a phrase like 'Do you know...?' using statement word order.
- Use statement word order (Subject + Verb) instead of question order. Example: 'where he is' not 'where is he'.
- Remove auxiliary verbs like 'do', 'does', or 'did'. Example: 'where she lives' not 'where does she live'.
- Use 'if' or 'whether' for Yes/No questions. Example: 'I wonder if it will rain'.

Can you tell me... برای دوستا عالیه. I was wondering if... برای اون استادی که میخوای تحت تأثیر قرارش بدی عالیه.
who ، what ، where ، why یا how داره، نگهش دار! اگه سوال بله/خیر هست (مثل «داره بارون میاد؟»)، باید if یا whether اضافه کنی.
do رو حذف کن. اگه سوال مستقیم از do ، does یا did استفاده میکنه، بندازشون سطل آشغال. اونا به مهمونی سوالات غیرمستقیم دعوت نشدن.

اشتباهات رایج
Do you know where is the library؟*نه!* توی انگلیسی، ما فقط یک بار جای فاعل و فعل رو عوض میکنیم. چون بخش اول (
Do you know...) خودش سوالیه، بخش دوم باید خبری باشه. مثل باتری بهش نگاه کن؛ تو فقط به یه طرف «مثبت» نیاز داری. یه اشتباه کلاسیک دیگه نگه داشتن do ، does یا did هست. Could you tell me where did he go؟غلطه. باید باشه:
Could you tell me where he went؟(یادت نره فعل رو به گذشته تبدیل کنی!). همچنین،
if رو فراموش نکن. اگه بپرسی Do you know he is coming؟یعنی داری میپرسی که آیا من خبر دارم اون داره میاد یا نه. اگه بپرسی
Do you know if he is coming؟یعنی داری جواب واقعی رو میخوای. کلمه کوچیکیه ولی بار معنایی زیادی داره. در نهایت، اگه شروعکننده سوالی نیست، دو تا علامت سوال نذار.
I wonder where she is.با نقطه تموم میشه، نه علامت سوال. اگه اونجا علامت سوال بذاری، یه فرشته گرامر بالهاش رو از دست میده.

Indirect questions are questions tucked inside another sentence. They are used to be more polite, formal, or to express uncertainty without being blunt.
Polite Inquiry
Using an introductory phrase to ask for information less abruptly.
“Do you have any idea where the post office is?”
“I was wondering if you could help me.”
Reporting Questions
Describing a question that someone else asked or that you are thinking about.
“She asked me where I lived.”
“They wanted to know if the meeting was still on.”
Expressing Uncertainty
