شرایط قوی: قوانین 'فقط اگر'
only if استفاده کن. مثل «شرط لازم» یا «تنها راه».
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
'Only if' sets a strict, single condition; when it starts a sentence, you must swap the subject and the helping verb.
- Use 'only if' for a deal-breaker condition: 'I'll go only if you go.'
- If 'Only if' starts the sentence, use inversion: 'Only if you pay will I work.'
- Do not use a comma when 'only if' is in the middle: 'I'll help only if you ask.'
You will get a promotion if you meet your targets.(رسیدن به اهداف راه خوبی برای ارتقا گرفتن است، اما شاید راههای دیگری مثل نشان دادن مهارتهای رهبری هم جواب بدهد.)You will get a promotion only if you meet your targets.(رسیدن به اهداف، تنها شرط غیرقابل مذاکره است. هیچ کار دیگری باعث ارتقای شما نخواهد شد.)
if بیانگر یک «شرط کافی» (Sufficient Condition) است. یعنی برآورده شدن شرط برای وقوع نتیجه کافی است، اما لزوماً تنها راه نیست. اما only if یک «شرط لازم» (Necessary Condition) را معرفی میکند. این یعنی نتیجه بدون این شرط «نمیتواند» اتفاق بیفتد.only if را برای تأکید به ابتدای جمله میآورید، باید در جمله اصلی (Main Clause) جای فاعل و فعل کمکی را عوض کنید. این دقیقاً مشابه ساختاری است که در جملات پرسشی استفاده میکنیم. این یکی از بزرگترین تفاوتهای ساختاری میان فارسی و انگلیسی است.- ساختار استاندارد (بدون وارونگی):
The system will function only if all data is correct. - ساختار تأکیدی (با وارونگی):
Only if all data is correct will the system function.
will قبل از the system قرار گرفته است.
only ifاز ویرگول (comma) استفاده نمیشود.
We can start the meeting only if everyone is present.
only if شروع میکنید تا بر اهمیت حیاتی شرط تأکید کنید، حتماً باید در جمله اصلی وارونگی ایجاد کنید. این یک قانون سفت و سخت گرامری است.Only if + [بخش شرطی] + , + [فعل کمکی] + [فاعل] + [فعل اصلی]...- نکته: بعد از پایان بخش شرطی، استفاده از ویرگول الزامی است.
will, can, have) نداشته باشد، باید از do, does یا did استفاده کنید.do / does | Only if you study hard do you pass the exam. |did | Only if they signed the contract did we pay them. |will | Only if it stops raining will we go out. |have / has | Only if she has finished has she earned a break. |can, should...) | خودِ فعل مدال | Only if you have a visa can you enter the country. |be (am, is, are...) | خودِ فعل be | Only if the price is right is the deal acceptable. |only if وزن معنایی زیادی دارد، بنابراین باید در موقعیتهایی استفاده شود که شرط واقعاً انحصاری و ضروری است. استفاده بیش از حد از آن در مکالمات دوستانه ممکن است شما را کمی خشک یا سختگیر نشان دهد، اما در جای درست، وضوح بینظیری به کلام شما میبخشد.only if هرگونه ابهامی را از بین میبرد.Only if a student maintains a 3.0 GPA is he/she eligible for the scholarship.I will sign the agreement only if the delivery date is guaranteed. The device will activate only if the fingerprint matches the database.Only if we reduce carbon emissions can we hope to stop climate change.- *Incorrect:*
Only if you call me, I will come. - *Correct:*
Only if you call me will I come.
Only if در ابتدای جمله مثل یک «ماشه» عمل میکند که ساختار جمله بعدی را منفجر کرده و ترتیب آن را عوض میکند.- *Incorrect:*
Only if he works hard, he wins. - *Correct:*
Only if he works hard does he win.
only if با if only:Only if: بیانگر یک شرط لازم و واقعی است. (فقط اگر)If only: بیانگر یک آرزو یا حسرت عمیق است. (کاش/ای کاش)
If only I had more time! (کاش وقت بیشتری داشتم - حسرت)I will finish only if I have more time. (فقط اگر وقت بیشتری داشته باشم تمام میکنم - شرط)- *Incorrect:*
Only if it's free will go. - *Correct:*
Only if it's free will I go.
only if را با دو ساختار شرطی دیگر مقایسه کنیم که اغلب باعث سردرگمی میشوند.If | یک شرط عمومی؛ ممکن است راههای دیگری هم باشد. | If you study, you will pass. (شاید با تقلب هم پاس شوی! اما اگر درس بخوانی حتماً پاس میشوی.) |Unless | به معنای «مگر اینکه»؛ یک شرط منفی را بیان میکند. | You won't pass unless you study. (پاس نمیشوی مگر اینکه درس بخوانی.) |Only if | تأکید بر اینکه «تنها» راه ممکن همین است. | Only if you study will you pass. (هیچ راه دیگری جز درس خواندن برای پاس شدن نداری.) |Unless:Unless و Only if دقیقاً یکی هستند. اما Only if تأکید بسیار بیشتری بر «انحصاری بودن» شرط دارد. در متون حقوقی و رسمی، Only if برای تعیین دقیق مرزهای مسئولیت استفاده میشود، در حالی که Unless بیشتر برای بیان استثنائات به کار میرود.only if وارونگی ایجاد کنیم؟Only if شروع شود. اگر این عبارت در وسط جمله (بعد از جمله اصلی) بیاید، ترتیب کلمات کاملاً عادی باقی میماند. به عنوان یک زبانآموز سطح B2، پیشنهاد میکنم برای نشان دادن تسلط خود، در نوشتار رسمی از حالت وارونه در ابتدای جمله استفاده کنید.only if برای زمان گذشته هم استفاده کنیم؟Only if he had driven more slowly would the accident have been avoided.only if با provided that تفاوتی دارد؟provided that (به شرط آنکه) هم برای بیان شرط استفاده میشود و حالتی رسمی دارد، اما لزوماً معنای «انحصار» و «تنها راه» را به شدتِ only if منتقل نمیکند. Only if قویترین راه برای بیان یک ضرورت مطلق است.Only if و استفاده از وارونگی ممکن است کمی بیش از حد کتابی (Formal) به نظر برسد. در این موقعیتها بهتر است only if را در وسط جمله به کار ببرید: I'll come to the party only if you're there.Inversion Structure with 'Only If'

Yes. For example: 'Only if he had a ticket was he allowed to enter.' Note that the inversion still happens (`was he` instead of `he was`).
`Only if` is a condition ('I'll go only if you go'). `If only` is a wish or regret ('If only I had gone!'). They are not interchangeable.
Only if there isn't already an auxiliary verb (like `will`, `can`, `should`, `is`, `have`). If the main verb is alone, you need `do/does/did`.
Not at all! In the middle of a sentence, it's very common: 'I'm coming only if there's food.' Starting with it ('Only if...') is more dramatic and less common in texts.
In casual conversation, yes. It's a short way of saying 'I will do it only if you want me to.'
The inversion happens in the *result* clause, not the 'if' clause. So: 'Only if I am (condition) ... will I (result).'
No. `Unless` means 'if not'. 'I'll go unless it rains' means I go if it doesn't rain. 'I'll go only if it rains' means I go only when there is rain.
In English, we use inversion after certain restrictive or negative words at the start of a sentence to provide extra emphasis or a formal tone.
