In Portuguese, 'um' and 'uma' mean 'a' or 'an', and they must match the gender of the noun they describe.

um, uma, uns, umas هي مفاتيح أساسية لفتح أبواب التواصل اليومي. إذا كنت تتساءل عن أهميتها، فكر في اللغة العربية؛ نحن في العربية نستخدم التنوين (مثل: كتابٌ، سيارةٌ) للدلالة على النكرة، بينما في البرتغالية، لا يوجد «تنوين»، بل نستخدم أداة تسبق الاسم. هذا المفهوم يسمى في البرتغالية *Artigos Indefinidos*.um تعني «واحد» أو «أي واحد» من نوعه. عدم استخدام هذه الأدوات سيجعل كلامك يبدو غريباً أو «آلياً»، تماماً كما لو أنك حذفت التنوين في العربية في مواضع تتطلب التعريف أو التنكير.a أو an بناءً على صوت الحرف الأول، بينما في البرتغالية، القاعدة هي «الجنس النحوي». على سبيل المثال، كلمة mesa (طاولة) مؤنثة، لذا نستخدم uma mesa. أما carro (سيارة) فهو مذكر، فنستخدم um carro.uns و umas بمعنى «بعض»، ولكنها تحمل دلالة إضافية رائعة: التقدير. إذا قلت uns dez minutos، فأنت لا تقول «عشر دقائق» فقط، بل تعني «حوالي عشر دقائق».um | uma |uns | umas |um livro(كتابٌ - مذكر مفرد).uma casa(بيتٌ - مؤنث مفرد).uns amigos(بعض الأصدقاء - مذكر جمع).umas flores(بعض الزهور - مؤنث جمع).
um و uns يحتوي على غنة (أنفية) خفيفة، وهو صوت مألوف للعرب عند نطق التنوين أحياناً، بينما uma و umas تنطق بوضوح. هذه الأدوات تسبق الاسم مباشرة، وإذا وُجدت صفة، فإن الأداة تسبق الصفة والاسم معاً، مثل um livro bom.- 1عند ذكر شيء لأول مرة:

uma problema. السبب هو أننا نظن أن كل كلمة تنتهي بـaهي مؤنث، وهذا صحيح في 90% من الحالات، لكنproblemaاستثناء مذكر. هذا يحدث لأننا نطبق قاعدة عامة دون حفظ الاستثناءات. - 3الخلط بين «الجمع» و«غير المعدود»: محاولة استخدام
