sondern یک حرف ربط همپایه است. این فقط یک راه دهانپرکن برای گفتن این است که این کلمهای است که دو بخش مساوی از یک جمله را به هم میچسباند. اما برخلاف und {و} یا oder {یا}، کلمه sondern یک شرط ورود سختگیرانه دارد.nicht {نه} یا kein {هیچ} صحبت میکنیم. اگر یکی از اینها را در نیمه اول نداشته باشی، sondern در خانه میماند.sondern وارد میشود تا جایگزین «درست» را ارائه دهد. مثل یک فیلتر عکس دیجیتال است: «هوا بد نیست (منفی)، بلکه هنری است (اصلاح)».
