Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Arabic, you can turn a group noun into a single item by adding the suffix 'ة' (ta marbuta).
- Collective nouns represent a group: 'شجر' (trees).
- Add 'ة' to make it a unit noun: 'شجرة' (one tree).
- Collective nouns are treated as feminine singular when referring to the group.
