Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'por' when you are moving through, along, or across a space.
- Use 'por' for movement through a space: 'Camino por el parque' (I walk through the park).
- Use 'por' for passing by a location: 'Paso por tu casa' (I pass by your house).

por の後ろには必ず冠詞や指示代名詞（esa, esta）が伴うのが一般的です。不定冠詞 un/una を使うと「ある〜を通って」、定冠詞 el/la を使うと「その〜を通って」というニュアンスになります。日本語では「公園を歩く」と助詞だけで繋げますが、スペイン語では必ず冠詞が必要になる点に注意しましょう。por の使い方は多岐にわたりますが、A1レベルでは以下の4つの状況を押さえておけば十分です。- 1物理的な通過: 最も基本的な使い方です。
Corro por el jardín（庭を走る）、Andamos por la playa（ビーチに沿って歩く）など、ある空間の中を移動する際に使います。 - 2開口部や障害物の通過:
Entramos por la puerta（ドアから入る）、Miro por la cerradura（鍵穴から覗く）。狭い入り口や隙間を通る際に必須の表現です。 - 3通信や交通の手段: 物理的な空間だけでなく、情報の通り道にも使われます。
Hablamos por teléfono（電話で話す）、Envié un mensaje por WhatsApp（WhatsAppでメッセージを送った）。日本語の「で」に相当しますが、手段というより「媒体を通じている」という感覚です。 - 4周辺の移動: 厳密なルートではなく、その辺りをうろつく場合にも使われます。
Paseamos por el centro（中心街をぶらぶら歩く）。「そのエリアのどこか」という漠然とした空間的広がりを示します。

porとparaの混同: 日本語では「公園へ行く」も「公園を走る」も同じ「公園」を使いますが、スペイン語ではpara(目的地) とpor(通過点) を厳密に分けます。Voy para el parqueと言うと「公園に向かっている」となり、Corro por el parqueと言うと「公園の中を走っている」となります。目的地か通過点かを常に意識しましょう。 - 2冠詞の欠落: 日本語は無冠詞の言語であるため、
Caminamos por parqueのように冠詞を忘れるミスが多発します。porの後ろには必ず冠詞や指示代名詞が必要であるとルール化して覚えましょう。 - 3
a través deとの過剰な使い分け: 日本語の「〜を通して」を直訳しようとして、何でもかんでもa través deを使おうとする傾向があります。しかし、日常会話ではporの方が圧倒的に自然です。a través deは「厚い壁を突き抜ける」ような強調が必要な場合に使い、日常の移動はporを使うのがコツです。
