Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use {虽然|suīrán} (although) and {但是|dànshì} (but) to connect two contrasting ideas in one sentence.
- Place {虽然|suīrán} before the first clause: {虽然|suīrán}他很累, 他还是去工作了。
- Place {但是|dànshì} before the second clause: 他很累, {但是|dànshì}他还是去工作了。
- You can omit {虽然|suīrán} in casual speech, but keep {但是|dànshì} for clarity.
