Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
The preposition 'während' means 'during' and always requires the Genitive case for the following noun.
- Use 'während' to describe a duration: 'Während {der|m} Arbeit' (During work).
- Always follow with the Genitive case: 'Während {des|n} Tages' (During the day).
- If the noun has no article, use the Genitive 's' ending: 'Während {schönen|adj} Wetters'.
